Projects 2000-2006

  • Project title: Lipica stables - an exceptional cultural landscape

  • Priority task: Sustainable development of the cross-border area
  • Project measure: Measure 1.1 - Protection, preservation and development of the environment and the territory

  • Project code: BASLO111423
  • Users: Public Institute "Kobilarna Lipica" (Lipica)
  • Partner:
    Basovizza Common Pasture Cooperative
    Trieste Province

  • Description: The project to revitalize the main entrance to the Lipica Stud-farm is to be carried out by restoring the historical monumental entrance gate (facing towards Trieste) and redefining the protected cross-border area, which has been enlarged after the dismantling of the border between Italy and the Republic of Slovenia. In addition to the above-mentioned activities, the project envisages the planting of new oak trees, the removal of excessive vegetation, the reclamation of land, as well as the conservation of the Karst landscape and the preservation of plant biodiversity in the area concerned. The project stresses the need to consolidate the range of tourist structures, such as the Museum located in the Stables that will host thematic exhibitions on Lipica activities and peculiarities. Multimedia and information material will make it possible to learn about this district and discover the resources - e.g. Lipica horses - that make it truly unique. The ultimate aims of the project are a significant increase in tourist flows and territorial visibility.
