  • Description: The project stems from the need to improve the situation of farms and foster agricultural competitiveness on the basis of a sustainable and environment-friendly development, in keeping with environmental protection. The work carried out for several years in this territory has revealed the need for a joint analysis and a targeted development of typical agricultural produce (PT) in the cross-border area, especially of high-quality, organic, traditional and typical products. The main objective of VALO-PT is the setting up of a single cross-border data bank for typical products. The primary sector of this area will therefore acquire greater external visibility by means of special events, information material and creation of several information centres that farms can refer to. Several sectors will be involved: meat, milk, fruit-growing, olive-growing, vegetablegrowing, vine-growing, medicinal herbs and typical dishes. By ensuring high quality, a much larger number of users than the present one can be achieved, whilst promoting the image of the cross-border territory. A considerable increase in the number of new jobs is also possible in the field of environment-friendly, organic and typical food production. This project intends to diversify the supply, the enhancement of local production and the actions aimed at the enhancement of high added value products, especially of typical local and traditional products, which make their recognition easier and at the same time consolidate the territorial visibility.
