Agricultural SMEs are now facing a double challenge, represented on one side by an economic regression, the other by the need to compete with the magnitude of the global market.
The project has the objective to assess the current economic situation and management of Italian and Slovenian SMEs, by carefully monitoring land and identifying appropriate strategies and solutions designed to strengthen and revitalize their presence on the national and transnational. In particular, activities are mainly oriented to the intensive and extensive/organic dairy farms.
PLANNED ACTIVITIES:
Coordination: Regular meetings will be organized to define the working methods for the flow of work and to plan actions to be developed and the roles of each unit based on the resources of the structures of belonging.
Visit and Analysis of SMEs: interviews with farmers will be organized to fill a questionnaire prepared with the aim of understand the various aspects of farm management and production in the area of intervention.
Studies: on the basis of collected data will be realized an analysis on strengths and weaknesses points of dairy sector in italy and Slovenia and will be identified the development opportunities and difficulties.
Meetings: By means of data processing, will be identified specific actions to resolve criticals. Meetings will be held with farmers, processing facilities, associations, etc...
Training: Specific courses will be organized and focused on farmer and farm management with particular attention to strategies for improving the production process and product, the business culture in animal husbandry and the marketing strategies and methodology for identification of sale channels.
Diffusion: will be organized on three levels: direct discosure (thematic meetings), indirect discosure (on local magazines and through manuals relating to the entrepreneurial culture) and multimedia disclosure (website).
PLANNED RESULTS:
The interviews realized in a number of Italian and Slovenian farms, will give a clear and of exhsaustive indication of the present reality in the border area between Italy and Slovenia. It will be possible also to identify the strengths and weaknesses aspects of the milk supply chain.
The second phase, through a close collaboration between Italians and Slovenes institutions and trade associations, will permit to identify strategies for the strengthening and revitalization of small and medium enterprises in the livestock sector in particular through the establishment of a technical-managerial system that enable farms to maximize agricultural production flow, defining marketing, sale and distribution strategies of products.
