The project is carried out on the Karst territory with the aim to promote the sustainable territory integration of the homogeneous Karst area as one of the most important area on the border between Italy and Slovenia.
The target of the activities is the sustainable management of natural resources and the territorial cohesion according to the shared cross-border strategies. Guidelines will be realized at disposal of local governments (municipalities of the Karst and provinces of Trieste and Gorizia) to foster the adoption of uniform criteria in the planning of local development and sustainable management of natural and environmental resources (Study on the Karst environmental planning, Integrated strategic plan for the development of the Karst, Joint guidelines for the building regulation in the municipalities of the Karst, Guidelines for energy efficiency in public administrations of Karst, Study of the Karst, Guidelines for the management of the natural areas of the Karst, Study the feasibility for the construction of the Karst Geopark), combining the conservation of natural and environmental heritage with the demands of socioeconomic development and quality of life of local population.
There are several specific actions that improve the attractiveness of the territory, the preparation of a map of the forest fire risk and the creation of several permanent cooperation networks: a network of information centers and the Living Museum of the Karst, a network of paths and roads, attractions and tours. The establishment of a permanent structure for the future cooperation among local authorities responsible for environmental management, which could be institutionalized in the form of a European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation or as a permanent work-table for the joint and cross-border development of the Karst.
The 16 project partners together with the LP (Municipality of Sežana) will be involved in an effective and quality management and visibility of the project (with a communication plan, literature, visual identity, website, presentations, conferences, etc.).
