  • Description: This project is part of a wider integrated project called “The Julian Alps between present and future”. It envisages specific initiatives in the cross-border area comprised among the municipalities of Tarvisio and Resia (in Italy) and of Kranjska Gora and Bovec (in Slovenia), the publication of information material in two languages as well as the setting up of a Working Group of experts from the various participating bodies, who will have the task of assessing the progress of individual sub-projects. This initiative aims at re-launching tourism and consolidating the local economy in the cross-border area of the region, through the adoption of specific and integrated actions in the fields of high altitude, naturalistic, educational and rural tourism, by enhancing the local resources and maintaining the typical features of the area. The general objective of this imitative consists in renovating three CAI routes: route 625 leading to the Brunner and Corsi Huts (between Sella Nevea and Cave del Predil), the former, now severely deteriorated, was the hunting lodge of Frederick Augustus King of Saxony, while the latter is still used to access alpine routes and equipped trails; route 628 towards Casera Cragnedul di Sopra; route 629 leading to the Grantagar Mountain Hut (“malga”) (between Cima Alta di Rio Bianco and Monte Cragnedul), where a farmhouse accommodation has been set up and the malga owner’s home has been renovated. The project envisages earthwork to restore the layout of the route, vegetation cutting, setting up of anchorage, cables and steps, trussing, installing Italian Alpine Club’s bilingual boards and signs and publishing publicity material.
