  • Description:
Organisation of a new tourist offer in Italy and Slovenia characterized by natural elements and in particular by the element “water”, developing forms of “slow tourism” with special attention on sustainability, responsibility and eco-friendly concepts.
"Slow tourism" is a new philosophy of travelling that links the Italian and Slovenian territory to the concept of slow tourism and quality tourism, helping to set up a potential offer in the Upper Adriatic area, with unique features in the international scene.

The following activities will be developed by the project:
    - WP 1 Coordination
    - WP 2 Strategic Planning
    - WP 3 Development of slow tourism with pilot scheme
    - WP4 Joint Marketing
    - WP5 Training
    - WP6 Communication

Expected results: +10% of touristic flows outside the area; +5% new employees in the natural tourism field; +5% economic activities in rural and ecological tourism, 10% increase from the incoming European and Asian markets in the slow tourism areas in Italy and Slovenia; 5% increase of tourist packages on Italian and Slovene slow tourism routes in the tour operator lists, specialized in natural tourism and eco-friendly tourism.

Impact: organization of a cross-border network "Slow tourism" involving at least 20 operators for each slow route; achievement on the European and Asian markets of Italian and Slovenian natural tourism offer, organizations and associations operating in the tourism field will ensure the continuity of promotion and market of “Slow” products and packages even after the end of the project.
The project will contribute to seasonally adjust the tourist offer in the Programme area. The involvement of schools will produce a multiplier effect for the spread of the “Slow” philosophy, increasing the care of the younger generation on the environmental and natural resources that characterize the area.

Targets groups: the direct targets groups are the tourism firms, tourism associations, local governments, tourism promotion agencies and tour operators, journalists, Italian tourists, Slovenes and foreigners with special reference to Asian markets (in particularly China and Japan where is an increasing demand for environmental and natural tourist destinations). The final beneficiaries of both the short and long term will be the citizens of the Programme area through the development of tourism products that will offer new employment opportunities at the local level.
