  • Description: The Observatory on Social Policies in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region and Slovenia - Regional Observatory OR_WIN (Welfare Innovations) aims at documenting the social changes which influence the citizens’ rights, duties, interests and expectations in Friuli- Venezia Giulia and in Slovenia. The Observatory aims at providing a monitoring/innovation dynamic tool, which plays the role of catalyser/engine for welfare policies innovations, through a centralised data bank, an annotated bibliography, seminars and meetings open to the participation of active citizenship. OR-WIN also plans to study those issues which are most significant in terms of possible innovation, in order to submit the results to the attention of local governing bodies. This initiative aims at analysing the evolution of living and working conditions in the various communities; in the light of such evolution, traditional rights (education, work, health/welfare) are examined to understand how they translate into the citizen’s awareness and practice, paving the way for new requirements and prospects. The Observatory is meant to fully promote the democratic, social and productive lives of citizens, institutions and social parties. Therefore, it becomes an important point of reference for public institutions - that are going to assess the effects of the policies and intervention programmes carried out - for the social parties - that are involved in relevant welfare sectors, such as labour policies, social security, etc. - and finally for the public and private operators, involved in the various welfare sectors, in order to meet the citizens’ needs and requirements by providing public services.
